Golden Tate: ‘Seahawks Missing Me And Percy Harvin’
By Evan Massey
Detroit Lions’ wide receiver Golden Tate said that some of the defending NFL champion Seattle Seahawks’ struggles are due to missing him and Percy Harvin.
The defending champion Seattle Seahawks are 6-4 and have not been playing the style of football that many people were expecting from them this year. They were an incredibly dominant team at the end of last season, and part of that had to do with the play of wide receiver Golden Tate. Percy Harvin was also a big piece of their offense when healthy, but neither player is currently with the team.

Tate left the Seahawks this past offseason in free agency, and the Seahawks traded Harvin to the New York Jets midseason this year. That being said, Tate has been having a huge season with the Detroit Lions and talked to the media about his belief that the Seahawks are struggling in part to missing both him and Harvin.
"“Their problem. Now they don’t have me or Percy (Harvin). They thought they had five, six, seven top receivers (to choose from) in this (draft) class, so there wasn’t a need to pay a lot of money when you could get a rookie for pennies, I guess, relatively speaking. So maybe that’s why (they let me go).”"
Quite simply, that way of looking at things has not worked out at all for Seattle if they indeed did take the situation like that. Tate has stepped up and caught 68 passes for 950 yards and three touchdowns this year with the Lions. Harvin hasn’t done much at all this season, and has been a disappointment for both the Seahawks and Jets.
All of that being said, the Seattle offense is not even close to as dangerous as it was last season. It has been very obvious that Russell Wilson has missed having his targets, and the Seahawks are going to have to address that this offseason. Until then, Tate is right that Seattle has been missing his production.
It’s always intriguing to hear players talk about their former teams, and Tate is obviously still upset with the way things went down in Seattle. He did love it there and wanted to re-sign with the team, but it simply wasn’t what Seattle wanted. Everything has worked out well for Tate, and he can look back and see that his former team made a mistake.
