Kenneth Faried Unpopular Within Nuggets’ Organization?
By Hayden Kane
Kenneth Faried of the Denver Nuggets is a fan favorite, but a recent report seems to indicate that he is not popular among those in the organization.
The NBA consists of an interesting mix of players. Each team is tasked with sifting through these various players around the league and trying to identify a true star player. What ends up happening, then, is that a scant few teams actually have a superstar while everybody else deals with players who think they offer more than they actually do.

Kenneth Faried thinks he is a star. The rest of the league probably thinks otherwise, and according to a recent report, his own team might even feel that way. Kevin Arnovitz of ESPN.com writes the following about Faried, who recently signed a $50 million extension with the team:
"Faried was a fan favorite in Denver, but multiple sources with knowledge of the Nuggets’ thinking maintain the team “isn’t crazy about him,” particularly Shaw. But with Faried’s boffo showing last summer with Team USA and a loyal following in Denver, the media-conscious Nuggets caved, adding yet another imperfect 4-man to their lot."
What probably did not help for the “media-conscious” Nuggets was the collective paranoia of a fan base that still hates Carmelo Anthony for forcing his way out of town, even if Denver arguably got the better half of that trade with the New York Knicks. Faried certainly is not on Anthony’s level as a player, but he is the guy who Nuggets’ fans see as a face of the franchise alongside Ty Lawson.
If Faried is regarded within the Nuggets like he is around the rest of the league, however, this might become a volatile situation. From Arnovitz:
"“[Faried] is a helluva player and plays hard, but he isn’t well liked [in the organization],” a league source said. “That gets glossed over. He says crazy s—. He thinks he’s the guy, and other guys take exception to his contract.”"
The Nuggets are a mess. Faried is supposed to provide a silver lining, yet it actually sounds like he might be one of the main parts of the problem in Denver.
