With Canada set to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year, FOX Sports 1 will be broadcasting the draw for the event live on Dec. 6.
FOX Sports 1 announced Thursday it will be broadcasting the official draw for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be played in Canada.
The draw is scheduled for noon Eastern on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa, and FOX Sports will provide the first live coverage of the draw in English in the U.S. since 1999—when the U.S. hosted.
Fox Sports issued a release announcing its coverage plan.
Rob Stone will anchor FOX Sports 1’s hour-long coverage from the studio, with Kate Abdo live in Ottawa.

Analysts will include retired U.S. women’s national team defender Heather Mitts, a three-time Olympic gold medalist; Ariane Hingst, who was on two Women’s World Cup champions for Germany; Kelly Smith, English’s all-time women’s goal scorer; and Tony DiCicco, who coached the U.S. side to the Women’s World Cup title in 1999.
The 24-team field will be placed into six groups of four teams each.
The U.S. and Canada will be in the field, along with Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Nigeria from Africa; Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and Thailand from Asia; England, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland from Europe; CONCACAF representatives Costa Rica and Mexico; New Zealand from Oceania; and Brazil and Colombia from South America.
There are still two spots open for qualifying. Netherlands and Italy play on Saturday in Den Haag, Netherlands, and on Nov. 27 in Verona, Italy.
Ecuador and Trinidad & Tobago will decide the final spot on Dec. 2 in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago after playing to a scoreless draw in Quito, Ecuador, on Nov. 8.
