While the San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams are other choices for potential relocation to Los Angeles, many believe it’s the Oakland Raiders who are the prime target to move as not only are they an extremely marketable franchise with a massive fan base, they already have roots in Southern California.

Owner Mark Davis hasn’t exactly hidden his feelings about Los Angeles and has stated on more than one occasion that he likes the area, though he continues to maintain his loyalty to Oakland – at least that’s what he says.

For years he and the Raiders franchise has attempted to get a new stadium deal in Oakland done however efforts have continually failed. Some of that is on the Raiders though it’s not as if Oakland has been overly helpful in getting other venues completed either.

Still, Mark Davis says the franchise is doing everything they can to stay in the area by getting a new deal completed.

“We are trying everything possible to get something done in Oakland right on the same exact site we’re on right now,” Davis said. “And I’d say 99 percent of my interests and energy are going towards getting something done there. That’s really the crux of it right now. People want to know about the other sites and there are always options. But we want to get something done in Oakland.”

You never like to see a franchise relocated, especially one with the history of the Oakland Raiders so you’d like to see the NFL step in and do what they can to assist in getting a stadium deal completed. However that doesn’t look overly promising and you can’t help but wonder how much longer Mark Davis and company will attempt to keep the team in Oakland.
