Bills Coach Doug Marrone Praises City of Buffalo
By Ed Carroll
Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone praised the City of Buffalo and its residents for how they’ve handled the recent blizzard that has blasted the city, and left Sunday’s NFL game in question.
Doug Marrone’s Buffalo Bills stand at a 5-5 record, a two-game losing streak, and likely need a win against the New York Jets this Sunday to remain alive in the NFL playoff hunt. But even with a blizzard and resulting driving ban keeping the Bills from even practicing (and leaving Sunday’s game in doubt), Marrone is keeping an impressive level of perspective on the situation, and had a lot of praise for Buffalo residents dealing with the snow.

“I was right outside [the hospital],” Marrone told the Buffalo News. “It was tough. You see people trying to get to the hospital. You see emergency employees, nurses and doctors trying to get to the hospital. I can’t say enough about the people of Buffalo. It’s a really unbelievable experience. People were helping each other. People were helping get people to the hospital. People from the hospital were going out. The people were trying to plow snow from the streets. I don’t think words can describe it, whether it was different people from different areas, everyone was just trying to help each other. It was really an amazing sight to see.”
Well, certainly the right thing for Marrone to say, though I doubt too many people outside of Buffalo would have given him grief if he were a little annoyed with the situation, especially since the team has been unable to practice. But his attitude about the situation is great.
The Bills are still unsure if they will play on Sunday as scheduled, but if you’re in the Buffalo area and want to earn $10 per hour and a pair of free Bills tickets, you can help the team shovel snow out of Ralph Wilson Stadium. The team expects to have around 500 shovelers, and said it won’t turn away anyone wanting to help shovel the estimated 220,000 tons of snow out of the Ralph.
Hang in there, Buffalo, and stay as warm as you can.
