The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without shooting guard Kevin Martin indefinitely after an MRI revealed a fracture in his right wrist

Kevin Martin is out indefinitely after he fractured his right wrist during the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-99 win over the New York Knicks on Monday. Despite the injury, Martin remained in the game and scored 27 points as the Wolves snapped their five-game losing streak.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves will evaluate Martin closely over the next few days to determine how the team will proceed with him out of the lineup and what the next course of action will be in treating the fractured wrist.

Minnesota is 3-7 this season, their first season without All-Star power forward Kevin Love who was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the offseason. Martin was the team’s leading scorer at 20.4 points per game, so this is a tremendous blow for a team who was already struggling in the first month of the season.

Corey Brewer and Shabazz Muhammad will have to pick up the minutes Martin would have had if not for the injury.

The Timberwolves have been hit as hard as any team in the league so far this year by the injury bug as the Wolves were already without starting point guard Ricky Rubio, who has no time table for his return from a sprained left ankle and starting center Nikola Pekovic is out  least the next two games with a sprained right wrist. Further, starting power forward Thaddeus Young is away from the team after the sudden passing of his mother.
