The 8-2 Patriots are preparing to face the 7-3 Lions on Sunday, but according to a story by Pro Football Talk, the biggest Lion they’re preparing to face is one Ndamukong Suh. Coach Bill Belichick doesn’t typically have a lot to say, but he had a few things to say about facing Suh.
"“He changes everything,” Belichick said on NFL Network. “You can’t let him penetrate or he’ll foul the whole play up. You’ve got to secure him on the line of scrimmage and again, that’s a lot easier said than done because of his talent and also some of the different looks they give you. He’s very disruptive in both the running game and the passing game. He’s got great effort. He makes plays in pursuit and on the backside. So really there’s no weakness in his game.”"
Running to the outside is sometimes a way to avoid defensive tackles of Suh’s ability, but Belichick disagreed, saying there’s no getting past Ndamukong Suh and that he needs to be blocked on every play.
Suh has 28 combined tackles this year and 4.5 sacks. He doesn’t actually lead the team in sacks or tackles, however, the former title belongs to defensive end Ezekiel Ansah with 5.5, and the latter to linebacker DeAndre Levy with 72 solo. Nevertheless, as Belichick says, Suh’s abilities to create chaos and break up plays is what makes him truly fearsome.
