You may have heard this past week that Kentucky alum and current Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledose suggested that his alma matter could probably defeat the Philadelphia 76ers as currently constructed.
That apparently didn’t sit well with the Sixers who were hosting Phoenix in the City of Brotherly Love on Friday night though the matchup was anything but loving.
While the Phoenix Suns came away with a relatively easy victory, it wasn’t without a small scare as ‘rookie’ Nerlens Noel decided to give Eric Bledsoe a hard foul during the contest. Ironically enough Noel too played at the University of Kentucky though understandably was standing up for his franchise and teammates.
For what it’s worth, Eric Bledsoe said he was tipped off a hard foul was coming before the game even got started.
You have to wonder who would have tipped Bledsoe off. Might it have been Noel of all people? The two are said to be decent friends and have a history together given they played for the same school. Of course, as dysfunctional as the Philadelphia 76ers have been this season you can’t really begrudge somebody on the roster for being a snitch.
All that said, good on the Philadelphia 76ers for sticking up for themselves and not letting Eric Bledsoe degrade them even if the suggestion is possibly true. On the flip side, good on Eric Bledsoe too for taking the hit like a man and not throwing a fit over the hard foul.
He knew what was coming and accepted it.
If you close your eyes and blink for a second, you might get a vision of 1980’s basketball. Of course, you wake up then and are witnessing quite possibly the worst basketball team in the history of the NBA – but it was a good vision for a second.
