Many expected the Atlanta Braves to give the Washington Nationals a run for their money in the National League East this past season but sub par play and injuries all but derailed such.
By the time the season concluded the Braves had only won 79 games and needed some changes. That started last week with the trade of outfielder Jason Heyward who may not be the only big name talent moved out of Georgia.
Rumors have leaked in recent days suggesting Justin Upton could also be on the move and according to Ken Rosenthal, the Texas Rangers have spoken with the Atlanta Braves about a potential trade.
#Rangers have spoken with #Braves about Justin Upton, as @Joelsherman1 said. Also have liked Upton in past. Pitching is more current focus.

Of course, the Texas Rangers aren’t the only team to talk to the Braves about a potential Justin Upton trade and were likely just attempting to gauge interest. Still, it seems to be an indication that Justin Upton is readily available and could be playing in a new zip code before the 2015 season rolls around.
Justin Upton does still have a year remaining on his contract so he’s not technically a rental meaning the Atlanta Braves would likely be able to command a decent prospect or two in return, though it doesn’t appear as if any deal is imminent.
Still, assuming the price is fair, you have to think there are a lot of Texas Rangers fans drooling at the prospect of Upton’s power being benefited by the hot Texas weather and home run happy ballpark.
It is not known what prospects the Atlanta Braves may have shown interest in.
