Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants a potential showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to happen at AT&T Stadium.

It is a well known assumption that when Jerry Jones wants something, he pursues it like crazy. Well, it would appear that you can add boxing‘s biggest potential draw in decades to that list.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao has been the fight fans have been clamoring to see for the better part of 7 years now. Rumors have been swirling around about it potentially happening as rampantly as ever lately. Although, skepticism is 100 percent warranted (this fight has been rumored and dissolved for years now), many feel as though a deal could be in place by some time in the first half of 2015.

That is where Jerry Jones comes into play. He, of all people, should understand the potential economic impact of such a bout finally coming to fruition. With the sheer amount of hype and build up surrounding a clash of two such titans, tickets could virtually sell themselves. Take into account the average ticket prices of both men’s fights, then multiply that by 2. Now take that figure, and multiply that by 105, 121 (should we including standing room only locations). Forget boxing; that, my friend, would hands down be, the largest gate in North American combat sports history.

“Well, it’s well known that I would walk over and I guess have to get in some boat time too to get over and meet [boxing promoter Bob Arum] in China to get it done. I’d be that excited about the possibility. It’d be a great fight. It’s going to be contemporarily, it’ll be one of the greatest fights in the last 15 years when it does happen,” said Jones.

Only time will tell if this fight even happens. If it does, maybe “Jerry World” will play host to it. However, if history is indicative of anything, it is that Las Vegas usually gets the first crack at high profile fights.
