We’re still months away from the NBA season coming to an end though if things remain on their current track, Kobe Bryant, who currently leads the league in scoring could very well conclude the year with the scoring title.
Assuming he is to do so he could very well be the least valuable scoring champion in NBA history.
That’s the word from Adam Fromal who crunched the numbers and came up with the painful realization.
"In fact, he’s poised to become the least valuable scoring champion in the history of the Association, assuming his numbers remain steady throughout the year and he doesn’t suddenly change his playing style."
Of course for such to happen Kobe Bryant would actually need to win the scoring title which is no forgone conclusion considering Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans is just 0.2 points behind Bryant, which might be the most shocking stat of all.
Still, talented as Davis is, you have to wonder if he’ll be able to keep up the offensive pace considering Kobe Bryant seemingly has a green light to unload for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Thankfully for Kobe Bryant, even if such is to happen it’s certainly not going to put a dent in his legacy which is among the best the NBA has ever seen. Still, for somebody as proud as Kobe Bryant and in tune with statistics as the Los Angeles Lakers icon is, you have to imagine he’ll do whatever he can to avoid such a fate if he’s facing such a statistic come the final few weeks of the year.
Bryant is currently averaging 26.7 points though is doing so on a woeful 38 percent from the field.
