Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he’s a fan of Robert Griffin III and feels RGIII can still succeed in the NFL.

When Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones speaks, the rumors mills begin to churn at full speed and it’s possible we may have another Johnny Manziel situation on our hands, this time involving Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

As a rookie out of Baylor, RGIII was a clear superstar in the making though injuries have derailed the play of the once proud signal caller and he has now found himself stapled to the Redskins bench. Noise has leaked suggesting the Redskins are wanting to move on from the quarterback, but who will be interested? Might it be Jerry Jones’ Cowboys?

That’s tough to say at this point as the team is fully behind Tony Romo, though you can never be too sure with Jones who says he’s a big fan of RGIII.

“Well, I’m a fan of RGIII,” Jones stated on NFL Network. “Right on this field two years ago, or maybe it was three seasons ago, he put on a show and had a game that just floored me. And they won, and they won in large part because of his play at quarterback. I thought ‘my goodness, and we’re going to have to be playing this guy for years and years.'”

Jones went on to say that once you see a player do “it” once, you know they can do it again.

It seems unlikely the Redskins would be willing to move Griffin to a divisional foe and even more unlikely that the Cowboys front office would want to deal with the media attention Robert Griffin III would receive as a bench player.

Still, as we’ve learned over the years, you can never really close the door on anything with Jerry Jones though such a marriage seems improbable.
