Pablo Sandoval wrote an emotional goodbye letter to San Francisco Giants fans after signing with the Boston Red Sox.

When Pablo Sandoval entered free agency earlier this month, the thought was that he’d test the idea of signing with a new team but he’d never actually do it. I mean, how do you leave a franchise where you’re beloved by the fan base and are coming off three World Series victories in five seasons? And when your previous team, the San Francisco Giants are offering the same amount of money (if not a little more) than interested parties? There was no reason to leave the Bay Area, right?

Wrong as Pablo Sandoval, suggesting he wanted a new challenge in life decided to spurn the only franchise he had ever known and sign with the Boston Red Sox.

It was a shock to many including the Giants and their fans, whom Pablo Sandoval wrote an emotional goodbye letter to.

"To the greatest fans in San Francisco! Leaving the #SFGiants & this city I love is the most difficult decision I have ever made. I have grown up w/you, laughed & cried w/you & you have blessed me w your support, friendship & love. It has been an unforgettable @SFGiants career, a great run & 3 World Series championships in 5 yrs w/great teammates, coaches, front office & fans. I will always remember you w love & my heart will always be in #SF."

While many San Francisco Giants fans will understandably wish Pablo Sandoval success with the Boston Red Sox, there are plenty who are also a bit upset with the Kung-Fu Panda as it was Sandoval who said he wanted to remain a Giant forever during the World Series Champions parade on Halloween. It was also Sandoval who turned down the same amount of money from the Giants and quickly posted a ‘goggles’ photo with Hanley Ramirez who had tormented the Giants as a member of the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.

Still, frustrated or not, it was a nice gesture of Sandoval to attempt a departure on good terms.
