While we’ve seen players fall from grace before, it’s been a while since we’ve seen one plunge so fast and so far like Robert Griffin III.
The Washington Redskins quarterback looked to be a superstar in the making during his rookie season but injuries have derailed RGIII’s career which has now landed him on the bench after multiple poor outings. Things have become so bad former Redskins tight end turned radio host Chris Cooley says the team can’t be properly assessed because of Griffin’s on-field stench.
“What we are going to do is we are going to give incomplete to the entire offense,” Cooley said. “Because I don’t know how to grade them….I can’t grade the pass game. Our quarterback does not allow a proper grading of the pass game, because there was something I’ve never seen go on on a football field before.
Cooley did go on to say he wasn’t attempting to make fun of Robert Griffin III or even take a slight at RGIII, just stating the facts that you can’t accurately decipher what you have if your quarterback is struggling.
Perhaps he could have done so in a way that didn’t completely call Griffin out though he does have a point. If you’re playing with a struggling quarterback everybody else on the field is going to suffer. Of course the same could be said for a poor offensive line and it’s not as if Griffin, despite holding the ball too long is getting what you’d call solid protection either.
Simply put it’s a bad situation all around for the Washington Redskins offense which has plenty of warts to go around, though there’s no denying that RGIII is having a bad impact on the offense.
