Baltimore Ravens rookie defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan was late to a meeting Wednesday because he was building a snowman. No, really.
Rookies are late to meetings in the NFL at their peril. But it’s very possible that Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh will give defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan a pass on this one.
The Florida-born and Florida-raised Timmy Jernigan saw snow for the first time in his life on Wednesday and the 22-year-old did what every kid does when he sees snow for the first time
He built a snowman.
He was late to a team meeting as a team employee showed him the ins and outs of proper snowman engineering.

It was after practice at the team facility and Jernigan went outside, rolled a strong base and got halfway through the second level, according to the Baltimore Sun, when a team official called out to ask him if his defensive meeting was at 3:30 p.m.
It was already 3:35.
So Jernigan might be in some trouble, because football coaches are notoriously cranky about timeliness at their meetings (Tom Coughlin and his five-minutes early policy comes to mind).
But as anyone who has ever been a kid might argue, getting to play in the snow for the first time, like, ever-r-r-r should be a legitimate excuse for being late.
