While the Louisville Cardinals were expected to have a relatively easy day against the Kentucky Wildcats on the football field Saturday afternoon, they probably didn’t expect their starting running back to get plastered onto the turf.
That’s exactly what happened though in the mid portion of the first quarter when Dyer ran up the gut for a few yard gain.
A stout Kentucky Wildcats defense stopped the running back and that’s where things came to an end, or normally would have. Not in the case however as Dyer, continuing to move his feet, kept trying to pick up an additional yard or two.
For whatever reason that didn’t sit well with the Wildcats who pushed back and with momentum on their side eventually defied gravity and had Michael Dyer almost laying on top of multiple players as the pool of players continued to move into the backfield.
Sound strange? It looks the part.
With the referee attempting to blow the play dead the Wildcats defense finally gave up the ghost and Dyer was free to release himself from the top of the pile, though as we’ve all learned what goes up must come down and Dyer did exactly that in rather hard fashion.
No, it wasn’t a full blown throw into the turf but the Wildcats certainly gave him a little extra push as he came off the pile.
Dyer would eventually find the end zone for a touchdown, seemingly having the last laugh.
