Ray Rice won his appeal against the league’s indefinite suspension of him on Friday, and he could now turn his attention to a large grievance against the Baltimore Ravens.

It is rare that you can say this, but in one sense, Ray Rice has right on his side in terms of the fallout from his domestic abuse incident before the 2014 NFL season started.

The initial, laughable suspension of Ray Rice for two games was a problem, but it was the official ruling of the league. For them to change that upon the release of the second video, while right in terms of the severity of the act, was wrong in terms of the league’s policy.

Something to remember: the problem here is that Rice should have been punished far more harshly in the first place.

Anyhow, Rice won his appeal, and now he can turn his focus to a grievance against the Ravens for the games he theoretically could have played after serving the light two-game suspension initially handed down.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that Rice is in line to win over $3 million in a grievance against the Ravens:

"But the Ravens turned their back on Rice on September 8, only minutes before the league suspended him indefinitely. The grievance against the Ravens, if successful, will result in Rice being paid for every game check he has missed from Week Three through at least Week 13……With a $4 million base salary, Rice could win up to $3.52 million from the Ravens under his pending grievance."

You can hate what Ray Rice did, but you should hate the handling of the situation by the league and the Ravens as well. It is in that context that Rice could win this big grievance against his former team.
