Brian Hoyer Surprised Cleveland Browns Benched Him
By Cory Buck
Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer was surprised to have been benched by the team during their 26-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Despite another rough outing for QB Brian Hoyer, he believes in himself and that the Cleveland Browns are still his team. Whether that gets him another start in Cleveland is up to the coaches though, as Hoyer threw another two interceptions against the Buffalo Bills in a critical loss.

“This is my team, I’ve always felt that way. We’ll see what happens,” Hoyer said, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Rookie Johnny Manziel entered the game in relief of Hoyer after Hoyer’s second interception and Manziel immediately led the Browns to their only touchdown of the day. The game was hardly over before plenty speculated as to whether this was a sign of change in Cleveland.
At 7-5, the Browns are still in the race for the AFC North thanks to losses by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, but they can’t afford any more losses like the one in Buffalo, which makes head coach Mike Pettine’s job all the more difficult.
While Hoyer didn’t help his team’s chances of victory, he also noted it was a team loss. “I don’t think any of us played well enough to win today, myself included, and that’s a shame because of where we’re at in this season.”
We’ll have a better idea of where the Browns are at when they name their Week 14 starter this week.
