Duron Carter has the bloodlines as the son of Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter and at 6-5, 2-5 pounds has the ideal size for an NFL wide receiver, but all he needs now is an opportunity after excelling in the Canadian Football League the last two seasons after he went undrafted out of college.
Carter had 75 receptions for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns this season for the Montreal Alouettes and is now free to schedule visits with NFL teams, including the Cleveland Browns who will work out one-time Ohio State product.
Carter could also visit the Colts, Seahawks and 49ers, according to Jason La Canfora who writes as many as 15 teams could be interested in the talented receiver who has had some off-the-field concerns dating back to his time in college. He also writes Carter could hold a pro day after the holidays in order to give his body time to heal and recuperate after the rigors of the CFL season.
He began his college career at Ohio State but only lasted one season before he was ruled academically ineligible and transferred to Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College. He later transferred to Alabama but never played a down after he was once again ruled academically ineligible.
Carter has 124 receptions for 1,939 and 12 touchdowns in two seasons with the Alouettes.
He is not eligible to sign a contract to help an NFL team this season and has to wait until February to sign with a prospective team.
