Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel felt like the veteran players rallied around him in his NFL debut against the Buffalo Bills.
Rookie NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel made his season debut for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills and he made his debut in a big way. Not only did he complete five of his eight passing attempts for 63 yards, he also ran in a 10-yard touchdown for his first career score.

His success against the Bills has a lot of fans and analysts talking about whether or not he is ready to take over and start ahead of Brian Hoyer. There is no question that he has the talent, but it will be an interesting decision for head coach Mike Pettine to make.
Manziel talked about the successful debut that he had, and the veteran players and teammates rallying around him and helping make sure that he was calmed down and ready for the moment.
"“When I was told to go in today, I feel like those guys rallied around me for that little bit. I mean they came up to me, making sure I was locked in, they were encouraging me and they rallied around me for that little bit. So If I were to be the guy moving forward, you want to carry that a little bit, that weight, even though its one drive and it’s a small part of this whole entire football game, I still feel I am very thankful for those guys.”"
Needless to say, this is the start of a new era for the Browns and there is a lot of pressure for Manziel to see the field much more often. At the very least, fans are wanting to see Hoyer get a quick pull if he struggles to start a game in favor of Manziel. There is no denying that Manziel is the future at quarterback for the Browns, and the future might very well be now with the performance that he showed.
Hoyer has done an excellent job for the most part, but his inconsistencies in winnable games has hurt Cleveland in a big way. Manziel may not be any better in his rookie season, but there is also the chance that his playmaking and confidence is exactly what the Browns need right now.
Don’t be surprised to see Manziel take over as the starting quarterback in the next week or two. He has all of the talent to help take the Browns back to the playoffs, and the fan base is ready for him to take over. Manziel has calmed down quite a bit off the field, and it appears that he is getting very close to being given the chance to prove himself on the field.
