Fantasy Basketball: FanDuel Lineups For December 2nd

There are ten games going on in the NBA tonight, so it will be a little tougher to construct a successful lineup. Do you go for stars, or pick a bunch of mid-level guys? I may do a little of both.

Here are my FanDuel lineups for December 2nd:

Nov 24, 2014; Cleveland, OH, USA; Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving (2) calls a play against the Orlando Magic in the third quarter at Quicken Loans Arena. Mandatory Credit: David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Point Guards:

Bargains:

Greivis Vasquez, Raptors ($3,900): It was Vazquez, not Terrence Ross or Lou Williams, that got the start in place of the injured DeMar DeRozan. Vasquez responded with a 30 fantasy point game. Ross and Lou Will will still see minutes with DeRozan out, but it appears to be Vasquez that has the upper hand right now.

Jarrett Jack, Nets ($4,500): Jack has over 22 fantasy points in five of his last six games despite not being a starter. This situation is worth watching because he is outplaying starter Jose Calderon right now. Jack is a sure 20 points at a low price right now with the potential for more.

Worth The Cost:

Russell Westbrook, Thunder ($9,900): After missing nearly a month with a hand injury Westbrook celebrated his first game back with 51.4 fantasy points. So much for shaking the rust off. Add to that the fact that he will have Kevin Durant back tonight, and his total could get even better!

Ty Lawson, Nuggets ($8,700): Lawson has averaged 38 fantasy points per game over his last eight games. He is one of the most consistent options at PG tonight, though there are ones that have higher upside. If you are looking for consistency though, Lawson is your best bet.

Risky Play:

Brandon Knight, Bucks ($7,100): Knight is averaging just under 20 fantasy points per game over his last three games. It might be best to let him get things straightened out before rolling with him again.

My Lineups:

A and B:Ā Vasquez and Kyrie Irving ($12,100): Irving is flourishing running an all-star offense in Cleveland. I see no reason for that not to continue against the Bucks.

Shooting Guards:

Bargains:

Lou Williams, Raptors ($4,900): Williams was producing even before DeRozan went down, so there is no reason to think that he won’t continue to. He got a few more minutes in the first game with DeRozan out. As long as he is producing, he will keep getting good minutes. There is potential for a lot more with DeRozan down. The Raptors will likely cycle between Vasquez, Williams, and Terrence Ross depending on the game situation. The injury to DeRozan will likely help all three guys.

Wesley Matthews, Trailblazers ($6,200): Matthews is mostly a scorer, but he is feeling it right now, going above his season fantasy average in each of his last four games. The fact that he has not been held under 20 fantasy points this year means that even when his shot is not falling, he still contributes for the Blazers and fantasy owners alike. He is a low risk option that could produce a high reward.

Worth The Cost:

Jimmy Butler, Bulls ($8,000): Butler has scored 35 or more fantasy points in seven of his last nine games. That is near the production that Kobe Bryant will get your for $1,200 cheaper.

Kobe Bryant, Lakers ($9,200): There is something about the Toronto Raptors that brings out the best in Kobe. He posted a triple double against them on Sunday. Now he gets to take on a Pistons team that has struggled at times this year. Don’t expect another triple double, but over 40 fantasy points is certainly a possibility.

Risky Play:

Victor Oladipo, Magic ($6,500): Oladipo has really only had one game that is up to his standards since his return to the court. Tonight though, he might have a chance to have another. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are both questionable for tonight’s game, meaning Oladipo might not have to face either of them. If this is the case, he could have his best game of the year. Be sure to monitor the situation closely. Even if you do, you might not get your answer before your FanDuel team locks at 7pm eastern. That game doesn’t tip off until 10:30 eastern.

My Lineups:

A: Butler and Williams ($12,900)

B: Matthews and Monta Ellis ($13,500): Ellis has been a very consistent producer over the last few weeks. And you can bet that the Mavs players will get a full run tonight against the Bulls.

Small Forwards:

Bargains:

Terrence Ross, Raptors ($4,800): Ross is a bit of a risk with both Vasquez and Lou Williams also filling the void left by DeRozan’s injury, but he also has the most upside. He is the best shooter of the three, and probably has the most upside. He had 20 points and five rebounds against the Lakers on Sunday. His chances of doing the same thing to the Kings aren’t quite as good, but he could still provide good numbers for the price if you need to go cheap here.

Andre Iguodala, Warriors ($4,200): This might only apply to those of you playing the late only game since the status of Curry and Thompson might not be announced until after 7pm eastern. Use Iguodala with caution, but if either Curry or Thompson sit, Iguodala could pick up a lot more minutes than he has seen lately, making him an intriguing play.

Worth The Cost:

Carmelo Anthony, Knicks ($9,000): Carmelo’s sore back sure didn’t bother him against the Heat on Sunday. He racked up 47.6Ā fantasy points in the game. I wouldn’t worry about him sitting out yesterday’s practice to rest. There is no way he is missing the inter-city rivalry against the Nets. Another 40 fantasy point night is a good possibility.

Tobias Harris, Magic ($7,300): He has been a consistent 30 point guy when he has played for the last three weeks. And you know me, I like consistency in my lineups.

Risky Play:

Kevin Durant, Thunder ($10,000): Durant will make his season debut against the Pelicans in New Orleans tonight. Westbrook didnt show any rust in his debut on Friday. Will Durant fare the same tonight? It’s possible, but I want a more sure thing for ten grand. Especially if he will be on a minutes limit like the Thunder have suggested.

My Lineups:

A: Ross and Harris ($12,100)

B:Ā Anthony and Ross ($13,800):

Nov 5, 2014; Milwaukee, WI, USA; Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic (44) shoots as Milwaukee Bucks guard Giannis Antetokounmpo (34) looks on during the first quarter at BMO Harris Bradley Center. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Power Forwards:

Bargains:

Nikola Mirotic, Bulls ($4,800): The injury to Taj Gibson has opened the door for Mirotic to show off his skills. He has done a great job so far, averaging 29 fantasy points per game in the five games since Gibson went down. He is a great short term option, espeically in daily leagues, as long as Gibson remains out.

Marreese Speights, Warriors ($5,300): While Speights still does not start for the Warriors, he provides quality minutes off the bench, and puts up some good numbers. He has averaged 29 fantasy points per game over his last five games as well, making him a good option for the money.

Worth The Cost:

LaMarcus Aldridge, Trailblazers ($9,500): Aldridge is as consistent as they come at the PF position, and while he has not eclipsed 50 fantasy points in a game this season, he has also not been below 33. He is a safer, and much cheaper, alternative to Anthony Davis.

Pau Gasol, Bulls ($8,900): Gasol has averaged 41 fantasy points per game since his three game absence with a calf injury. He is picking up right where he left off, which means he will likely be a daily recommendation in my articles. If you can swing both Aldridge and Gasol, you have a really consistent foundation for your lineup.

Risky Play:

Anthony Davis, Pelicans ($11,600): This is by no means a slight on Davis. This just reflects the fact that he is more than $2,000 more than any other PF. While 50 point fantasy games were the norm for Davis earlier this season – he had a string of five straight at one point – he has ā€œonlyā€ put up two in his last eight games. Half of his efforts have been in the 30’s over that span, meaning that Aldridge and Gasol provide more consistent points at a lower cost. They just don’t have the potential to hit 60 like Davis does every time he takes the court.

My Lineups:

A: Jared Sullinger and Paul Millsap ($15,300): Yes, I realize that I did not mention either of them above. I decided to go with two consistent guys over a bargain and a stud. Maybe I come out ahead, maybe I don’t.

B: Aldridge and Mirotic ($14,300)

Nov 28, 2014; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler (6) disputes a call against the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre. Mandatory Credit: Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

Center:

Bargain:

Jordan Hill, Lakers ($6,700): Hill rebounded from two poor games last week to post 38 fantasy points against the Raptors on Sunday. He has topped 30 fantasy points in five of his last seven games, so I feel pretty comfortable recommending him.

Worth The Cost:

Tyson Chandler, Mavericks ($7,000): Chandler has been a dominant force for Dallas lately. He is averaging 43 fantasy points per game over his last three games, making him a great bargain if he can keep it up. At any rate, he should still be in the 30’s, which is what you want from your $7,000 guys.

Risky Play:

DeMarcus Cousins, Kings ($10,400) Cousins has missed the last two games with a virus, and is questionable for tonight’s game against the Magic. The Tuesday afternoon update that was supposed to materialize never did, so he is a huge risk for those of you playing games that lock at 7pm eastern. Be sure to check back at about 6:55 eastern to see if there is an update. If there is not, you might want to err on the side of caution for that large of a price tag.

My Lineups:

A: Chandler ($7,000)

B: Al Horford ($6,900): I wish I could have found an extra $100 in the cushions of my couch to add to this lineup, because I like Chandler much more than Horford, and they are nearly the same price. That said, Horford has picked it up lately, averaging 33 fantasy points per game over his last three.
