Evan Turner of the Boston Celtics ripped Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks and suggested he shouldn’t be on an NBA court playing defense.

When you think of Atlanta Hawks swingman Kyle Korver, you wouldn’t generally assume he’d be the target of anybody’s verbal assault considering he’s pretty mild mannered and spends most of his time on the floor unloading three-point shots.

Apparently though, his defensive tactics got under the skin of Boston Celtics forward/guard Evan Turner who unloaded on the veteran sharpshooter.

Unhappy with the Celtics collapse and his play on Tuesday night, Turner directed his frustration towards Korver and ripped the Hawks talent.

“They started pressuring, and it’s tough to score when you have two hands inside your jersey, as well. At the same time, I got a foul call on Korver and they said I pushed him and tripped him and he just fell. He can’t guard to save his life and he’s grabbing Marcus Thornton and he’s grabbing me and he has no business being in the game on the defensive end.”

Ouch.

Defending NBA referees isn’t my specialty though you’d have to think if Turner and the Boston Celtics were getting thrown around as much as the forward says, whistles would have been blowing.

In fairness to Kyle Korver, while he’s known mostly for his shot, the former Creighton star came into the NBA as a horrid defender and has since worked his behind off to improve. Granted, he’s still sub par but at least he puts forth the effort and tries to defend despite not having the athletic ability of some other players in the league.

As for Evan Turner, we’ll just chalk it up to being a bit salty after a tough loss for the Boston Celtics.
