The Buffalo Bills announced their plans to end the ‘Toronto Series’ in which the team played an annual regular season game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Buffalo Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula have hardly gotten the big seat warm and they’re making big changes to benefit fans. The locally-loathed Toronto Series will come to an end, per the team’s website, once again bringing eight annual home games to Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Bills President Russ Brandon said in the announcement:

"“We greatly appreciate the support we’ve received over the past seven years from all of the tremendous people at Rogers Communications. We will continue to work hard to solidify our footprint in Southern Ontario. Our fan base in this region remains extremely important to our organization and their support has been well documented.”"

Canada is vital to sports teams in Buffalo, but games played in Canada quickly became unpopular on both sides of the border. Rogers Centre proved to be a dull, lifeless environment in a city that was more apathetic to the Bills than either the Bills or Rogers Communications expected.

Even Canadians enjoyed the experience in Western New York more, which is why you didn’t see a spike in attendance in any of the seven years in which the Bills played in Toronto. Toronto is a wonderful city, but it’s also a huge monolith of clogged traffic and cumbersome laws that greatly diminish an NFL game day experience when compared to that found in Orchard Park.

Now fans don’t have to worry about any of that. Once again, the Bills will benefit from eight games played in the raucous Ralph Wilson Stadium environment.
