The Cleveland Browns named Brian Hoyer their starting quarterback for Week 14, but the belief is the veteran will be on a short leash against the Indianapolis Colts.
Johnny Manziel will once again be on the bench when the Cleveland Browns first-team offense steps out onto the field, but he may get to hear his number called again if Brian Hoyer continues to struggle.

Why? Well, there is a good chance the Browns could keep Hoyer on a short leash.
While there is no guarantee or official report that Brian Hoyer will be on a short leash against the Indianapolis Colts, ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi believes that will be the case.
Browns head coach Mike Pettine made it clear that Hoyer was the Week 14 starter, but he stopped short of making a commitment to Hoyer for the rest of the season.
Over the last few weeks, Hoyer has struggled greatly with just one touchdown and six interceptions.
Hoyer has not thrown a touchdown pass since Week 11.
Should Hoyer get off to another slow start for Cleveland, they will need to strongly consider bringing Johnny Football off of the bench for an offensive spark that could ultimately lead to the Browns remaining in the playoff mix.
