Haloti Ngata Took Adderall Because Of Kids And The Holidays
By Hayden Kane
Haloti Ngata of the Baltimore Ravens was suspended for the remainder of the NFL season because of his use of Adderall. This week he explained why he took the drug, citing his kids and the demands of the holiday season.
Ravens’ defensive tackle Haloti Ngata is probably lying about why he took Adderall, a banned substance for players without a waiver and cause for a suspension under the league’s Joint Drug Agreement. But darn it, if he’s not lying, he probably offered the best reason you will hear for taking the well-known drug.

Jason La Canfora of CBS reports that Ngata discussed the need to be attentive to his kids during the Thanksgiving holiday as the reason he took Adderall:
"Ravens star defensive end Haloti Ngata was suspended for the final four games of the regular season after testing positive for Adderall without having a waiver to use it, and, informed his employers and the NFLPA that he used it to get a boost at home during the holidays.Ngata quickly admitted the use after the positive test and had no inclination to appeal. He told the parties privately that, with three small children at home and feeling the grind of the season, he took the drug to be in a better state of mind to help with them around the house and tend to them."
You know who’s not impressed? Parents everywhere who are probably just as tired and get by without using drugs that just so happen to benefit professional athletes and are treated as a banned substance accordingly.
Still, as far as explanations are concerned, this is a better effort than we usually see from suspended athletes, whether it is the truth or not.
