Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott has benched Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer in favor of  Ed Davis and Ronnie Price.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

A few days ago, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott suggested that changes were coming to the starting lineup. He wouldn’t give any indication as to what moves were going to take place, though the assumption was that the backcourt would remain the same.

That is not the case however as the Lakers have benched Jeremy Lin. In addition to sitting down their starting point guard, forward Carlos Boozer has also been sent to the pine.

Instead, Ed Davis will replace Boozer in the starting lineup while Ronnie Price will do the same for Jeremy Lin.

While there was some belief that Carlos Boozer would take a seat thanks to his very poor defense, the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t exactly deep at the point guard position and benching Jeremy Lin seemed rather questionable, even with his poor play.

Still, at 5-15 and losers of two straight, it was clear that changes needed to be made and Lin’s struggles were enough for Byron Scott to pull the plug.

As for how long the benching of Lin and Boozer will last, that appears to be anybody’s guess. It could be something Scott is employing to send a message to both of the veteran players or it could be Scott attempting to inject some life into the Lakers woeful starting unit.

Whatever the case may be, Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer will not be starting Sunday’s game.

Ironically enough, just a few days ago there were whispers suggesting Ronnie Price could be cut given Los Angeles’ injury woes. How quickly things can change.
