Although Percy Harvin’s departure from the Seattle Seahawks wasn’t exactly great, his divorce from the Minnesota Vikings might have even been a bit more messy.
While the New York Jets wide receiver refused to suggest such this week during media sessions, it was clear that Harvin holds a bit of animosity towards his former franchise as he was seen jawing it up with fans before the game.
That only increased after Harvin, dealing with simple one-on-one coverage, burned the Minnesota Vikings en route to a deep touchdown pass from Geno Smith. Yes, you read that correctly, Geno Smith actually threw a touchdown pass.
Of course, in typical Geno Smith fashion the pass to Harvin appeared to be under thrown but that actually helped Percy Harvin come back for the 35-yard touchdown pass.
While the play ended up being beautiful in execution, had the Minnesota Vikings defender played the ball instead of playing Harvin, that pass was likely deflected and there was no touchdown to be had. Still, everything worked out as the New York Jets had hoped and the grab gave them a rather strange 9-7 lead.
Only the Jets would have such an odd score and would do so on a touchdown that normally should have been an incompletion. Alas, points are points and the Jets have a chance to get themselves in the win column.
