Reggie Bush became second athlete to wear a “I Can’t Breathe”t-shirt in pregame warmups this weekend

NBA Chicago Bulls forward Derrick Rose did it Saturday night.  Now the NFL’s Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush has followed suit, waring a “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt in pregame warmups.  The shirt is in protest of a New York Grand Jury decision not to indict unarmed Eric Garner who died due to a police chokehold back in July.

More from Detroit Lions

All of this is on the heels of the protest the St. Louis Rams players put up with their hands raised in pre-game introductions in protest of the Ferguson decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson for shooting and killing an unarmed Michael Brown.  These are the players way of showing their support.

These are the only two instances, so far, that we’ve seen in regards to protest of this incident in New York.  I would not be shocked to see more as more time progresses.

I don’t know if there is a right or wrong way to express support.  This can’t be seen necessarily as being wrong  The biggest thing that Bush may have to worry about though is the NFL uniform police.  The NFL is very strict what you can and can’t wear on the field, even in pre-game warmups.

I don’t forsee any fines for the action itself.  It is conceivable they could fine Bush for his shirt but given the NFL’s hands-off stance on Ferguson, I think the NFL leaves this one alone as well.
