Ex-Cleveland Browns‘ running back Trent Richardson had some choice words for his former team and fan base in advance of his return as a member of the Indianapolis Colts in week 14. The Cleveland Plain Dealer responded with a hilarious cartoon in Sunday’s paper.

High draft picks are the currency of the NFL. When a team trips up with a high pick, especially a first round pick, it is fodder for years of criticism. In the case of bumbling running back Trent Richardson, two teams made mistakes with first round picks to acquire him.

Richardson’s status as a bust is well known by now. He has literally never averaged more than 4.0 yards per attempt, league average in the NFL, even during his “good” rookie season. Having originally selected him with the no. 3 overall pick, the Browns somehow tricked the Colts into trading a first round pick for Richardson last year.

With Richardson and the Colts headed to Cleveland for a week 14 game, the running back had some words for Cleveland. He said that he plans to score a touchdown and then jump into the ‘Dawg Pound.’

Good luck with that.

Trent Richardson trolled, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer trolled back. Observe:

It is understandable that Richardson would want to play with a chip on his shoulder given the fact that he is truly a punchline at this point. He just might want to go about his business with a bit more humility, because any attempts to call people out will likely be met in force.

That is the lesson learned for him here with this hilarious and accurate cartoon.

Richardson has 445 yards rushing and three touchdowns this season. He is averaging 3.3 yards per attempt this season and for his career.
