Los Angeles Lakers power forward Carlos Boozer, who was benched on Sunday, took a shot at the team and head coach Byron Scott recently for their poor defensive execution and practice.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Over a week ago, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott suggested a change to the starting lineup was coming.

On Sunday afternoon the hammer dropped as both point guard Jeremy Lin and forward Carlos Boozer were sent to the bench in favor of Ronnie Price and Ed Davis. The move wasn’t deemed permanent, in fact, it wasn’t deemed much of anything.

Nobody knew how long the move would last though one thing was clear – Lin and Boozer were going to the bench.

That didn’t sit well with the veteran forward who unleashed a salty shot at the direction of Scott and the Los Angeles Lakers.

"“In Chicago with Thibs, we drilled our defensive rotation every day. Every day. In the morning at shootaround, practice day – it’d obviously be a lot longer on the practice day. But every day, we drilled it to make sure we know where we were supposed to be at, what we were going to do.”And in Los Angeles?“We talk about it a lot,” Boozer said."

I hope Byron Scott has some bandages to cover that third degree burn.

Of course, the suggestion of poor defense coming from Carlos Boozer is rather ironic considering he’s routinely thought to be one of the worst defenders at his position in the NBA. Still, it was clear the forward was taking a shot at his head coach and has probably dug that hole a bit deeper.

The Los Angeles Lakers, losers of three straight, currently sit at 5-16, the second worst record in the NBA’s Western Conference.
