Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been released from the hospital after suffering multiple internal injuries including a collapsed lung.

More from Chicago Bears

On Thursday night, Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall ran what appeared to be a routine route across the middle against the Dallas Cowboys and immediately after being hit, clutched towards his side in significant pain.

The hit didn’t look terribly impactful but apparently Marshall was struck perfectly in his chest/lower stomach because the Pro Bowl talent suffered two broken ribs in addition to a collapsed lung.

After the hit, given the mildly routine nature of such, there wasn’t a mad rush to the aid of Marshall though once the wideout began to thrive in pain the concern grew quickly and he was transported to a local Chicago hospital.

It’s not clear when he discharged, but Marshall is now home though a return this season is very unlikely given the nature of the injury and the lack of postseason in the Chicago Bears’ future.

Thankfully it doesn’t appear that any of Brandon Marshall’s injuries will impact him going into next season (outside of any mental struggles related to the fear of getting injured) and he should be back to his high level play moving forward.

The belief currently is that the Chicago Bears will place Brandon Marshall on the injured reserve list in the next few days.

Head coach Marc Trestman has yet to officially name a replacement though Marquess Wilson will presumably take over opposite Alshon Jeffery for the Bears’ final three games of the season.
