Might Jeff Samardzija be making a return to the Windy City?

The former Notre Dame wide receiver turned ace pitcher has been well traveled in the past few months after the Chicago Cubs dealt him to the Oakland A’s.

Now it seems as if Samardzija could be on the move again, this time to the Chicago White Sox who’ve been in discussions to trade for the pitcher for a few weeks now.

Hoping to reinforce their starting rotation, Jeff Samardzija would be a high profile addition for the White Sox who are said to be the frontrunners to acquire the veteran arm according to Bog Nightengale.

Since rumors broke regarding a potential deal between the two teams there have been a handful of players who’ve been allegedly named as targets of the Athletics, so if any deal is agreed upon it’s not currently known who would be going to the Bay Area.

As for Samardzija, outside of his short (and mildly successful) stint with the Oakland A’s, the pitcher had spent his career in the National League and posted better numbers compared between the two. Of course, the sample size was rather small though pitching in a hitter friendly ballpark wouldn’t exactly be his preferred destination. On the flip side, he previously played at gusty Wrigley Field were a swift wind can send a ball into the catch basket.

For now, no deal has been agreed upon though it does sound as if the two sides are doing what they can to hammer something out.
