After another disappointing performance from Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer, the team is expected to start former Heisman winner and first round pick Johnny Manziel next week.

Brian Hoyer has not thrown a touchdown in the last three games and has seven interceptions in that span and his grip on the starting quarterback job in Cleveland appears to be over as CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora has a source who estimates there is a 99 percent chance that the Browns will start Johnny Manziel in next week’s game.

Manziel was under discussion to start Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts but head coach Mike Pettine elected to give Hoyer another chance but was 14-of-31 140 yards and two interceptions in the one-point loss.
The former Heisman winner and the second of their two first round picks in the 2014 NFL draft has appeared in very limited duty this year with only nine attempts and two rushing attempts. It would seem like the time is now for the Browns to hand Manziel the keys to the offense and see if he can provide a spark to give their fleeting playoff hopes and offer a glimpse into the future of the team with him as their field general next year and beyond.
Hoyer is a free agent at the end of the year and is all but guaranteed to be gone next year as he seeks a starting job elsewhere and after spending a first round pick on a player the fanbase is clamoring to see, it’s time for Pettine to make the move and let Manziel start for the remainder of the year.
It’s not about this season, it’s about the future and Manziel’s a focal part of that.
