It’s been said that Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder is one of the nicest guy in all of professional sports, let alone the NBA.
You probably don’t need any additional proof of such but just in case you did, this feel good story involves a young boy from Detroit who saved up all his money to purchase Durant’s signature Nike shoes.
Unfortunately, one day when the young man was coming home from school, an older kid jumped the boy and took his shoes.
The attack made the local news which is how the Detroit Pistons got word of the incident. Ironically enough, Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder were scheduled to play the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills in just a matter of days.
That allowed the Pistons to get in contact with the Thunder who got in contact with Durant and not only did the reigning NBA MVP give the young man a pair of autographed shoes, he also hung out with him before the game.
“‘He was real nervous,’ Durant said. ‘Same thing I would have been if I met my favorite NBA player back then. I was just trying to make him feel as comfortable as possible.’
Durant spent a few minutes chatting with his young fan before not only giving him one pair of kicks, but two. In addition to the game used variety, Kevin Durant went a step further and actually got the fan a pair of shoes in his size that he can wear.
If only he could have gifted him Kendrick Perkins to protect him from another moron bully.
