While a handful of teams are said to have interest in signing pitcher Jon Lester, the ace apparently only his eyes on a chosen few.
That list is said to include the San Francisco Giants who are using a unique tactic in effort to recruit Lester to the Bay Area – Buster Posey.
The former MVP would be spending a considerable amount of time with Jon Lester considering he’d be his battery mate at catcher and was allegedly used in their Sunday night pitch to Lester.
So how well did the influence of one of baseball’s best players do? Apparently pretty damn good as Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports Jon Lester is now seriously considering signing with the San Francisco Giants.
They of course aren’t the only team attempting to bring Lester aboard as the Boston Red Sox are also said to be one of the most serious suitors for the All-Star’s services.
Buster Posey aside, the San Francisco Giants have a few other tricks up their sleeve which may sell Jon Lester on the Bay Area considering he’d make half of his starts in one of the best (if not the best) pitchers parks in baseball and would be playing in the cavernous stadiums of the National League West.
He’d have to bat, of course, thanks to no designated hitter, but he’d also get the relief of facing the opposition as opposed to the American League where it’s nine consecutive hitters.
Earlier today, reports also suggested the Boston Red Sox were attempting to sign Lester and trade for Cole Hamels.
