LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers has pissed off people in Britain after placing his arm around Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

While LeBron James played some form of an ambassador to Prince William and Kate Middleton on Monday evening before his Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center, some aren’t taking his actions very well this morning.
So what exactly did James do that upset the British press so much? Did he say something negative about the royals? Not even close as the three exchanged pleasantries and seemed to honestly enjoy the company of one another, so much so that LeBron James decided to put his arm around the Duchess of Cambridge as they posed for a photo.
Of course that’s a well known no-no to those who are in the presence of royalty, something LeBron James apparently missed the memo on.
“Americans are much more tactile than we Brits and this is another example of an American being too touchy feely with British royalty. You’d have think they’d have learned by now,” said Etiquette expert William Hanson.
The snooty Hanson continued while taking a shot at LeBron James’ hygiene.
“A shower would have been preferable but he had just finished a game – so even more reason for him not have opened his pits by lifting his arm and placing it around Her Royal Highness!”
You may recall, back in 2009, Michelle Obama put her arm around the Queen at a Buckingham Palace G20 reception which sent the masses into a fit of rage.
While the act of not placing an arm around a royal figure has been an honored tradition, it’s rather silly and you can’t expect every person in the world to know such over-the-top etiquette. James gets a pass on this one in my book.
