Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo says he’s the best player in the NBA along with Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

While Rajon Rondo, when healthy, is among the elite at his position in the NBA, few would confuse the Boston Celtics point guard as being the best player in the league.

That is, unless you’re Rajon Rondo who seems to believe he’s the best of the best.

Multiple players on the Boston Cetlics were asked to name their top three players in the NBA and most answered accordingly with LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant hearing their names called most often.

That’s when Rajon Rondo’s turn came about and the point guard dropped the amusing sentiment that he, James and Durant are the best three players in the NBA.

Seriously, that’s a pretty nice troll job by Rondo because there’s no way he really believes such. You could even see the slight hint of a grin when he mentioned his own name.

Granted when Rajon Rondo was healthy and looked to be at his peak he was among the top ten or top fifteen players in the league. Of course, that was a few seasons and knee operations ago. Now the former Kentucky star, while still very talented, looks to be more of a borderline All-Star talent than the best player in the league.

All that said, Rajon Rondo is still among the better point guards in the NBA, which may say something more about the current state of the league than it does about Rondo’s ability and skill set.

A routine plus defender, Rondo is averaging over 8 points and nearly 11 assists per game though is shooting a woeful 38 percent from the floor and 32 percent from the free throw line.
