Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel says that teammate Brian Hoyer has his back, despite the belief that the two are “enemies.”

Brian Hoyer is in a less than desirable situation. He just lost his job as the Browns’ starting quarterback to hotshot rookie Johnny Manziel and, with Hoyer a free agent at the end of the season, there’s a chance the Michigan State product has taken his last meaningful snap in a Cleveland uniform.

It would be understandable if Hoyer were upset and unenthusiastic about helping the guy who is trying to take his job for good, especially considering he and Manziel have been pitted as rivals this season.

However, Hoyer has been nothing but supportive of Manziel since losing his job, according to the rookie quarterback.

From Cleveland.com:

"“I think what gets lost a lot throughout all this having a younger guy and then a veteran and they’re competing throughout the whole camp, there’s kind of a general misconception that me and Brian don’t get along all the time,” said Manziel. “I know I saw something last weekend about me mumbling something on the sideline. Me and Brian have a great relationship. We’re teammates. We’re not enemies.“There’s nothing like that. I feel he’s fully behind me. He’s obviously disappointed. But I’m sure it’s obviously a little bit of the same feeling that I’ve had throughout the course of the year, but Brian has handled it like a professional that he his and mine and his relationship, we’re teammates. We look out for each other. He’s done that for me and vice versa.”"

If Manziel’s words are true, than kudos to Hoyer because his professionalism is likely making this quarterback transition go over as smoothly as it could.

At 7-6 and probably needing to win out to make the postseason, the last thing the Browns would need is the veteran quarterback not being behind the rookie before his first start.
