The Los Angeles Dodgers are open to trading infielder Dee Gordon if they can obtain a big name in return.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

After a disappointing loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS, it appears the Los Angeles Dodgers are willing to make some big moves this offseason.

They’ve already lost Hanley Ramirez in free agency and are said to be looking to trade Matt Kemp. Now they’re apparently willing to move Dee Gordon, though, are only going to do it if a big name player comes back their way.

That’s the word from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports who says the speedy infielder is available, but only for the right price.

There’s no denying that when Dee Gordon is on his game, he’s a difference maker. He can turn a walk or single into a triple thanks to his legs and the stolen base. More than that, just the actual threat of a stolen base is often enough to throw an opposing pitcher off his rhythm.

All that said, Dee Gordon doesn’t come without his warts as he’s proven himself to be a sub par defender and isn’t a good offensive player despite his ability to create havoc when on base.

It seems as if the Los Angeles Dodgers are simply seeing what type of talent Dee Gordon would bring in a deal as opposed to actively shopping him, which is what a good front office should always be doing. Granted I’m sure they may have preferred the talks to be kept in private but there’s nothing wrong with listening if a team wants to talk.
