Superstar Detroit Lions‘ defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said this week that his agent will be responsible for picking his next team when he becomes one of the most desired targets in NFL free agency.

This could be a way for Ndamukong Suh to simply say that he trusts his representation to find the best possible contract for him once he is on the open market. It could just be Suh saying that he hires an agent to get him the best possible deal and to maximize his earning potential as one of the best defenders in football.

That is probably the logical explanation, but hey, maybe Suh just wants to make this an interesting philosophical exercise in which he steps back and gives up control of the entire process. He will trust fate or the universe or whatever, having no say whatsoever even if it means playing for the Oakland Raiders or something.

From Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com, Suh says he will leave it to his agent Jimmy Sexton to pick his next team:

"Ndamukong Suh said Wednesday that he might not be the one making the decision on where he plays after this season.“It’ll be Jimmy’s decision, so we’ll go with that,” said the Detroit Lions defensive tackle, who has steadfastly not discussed his contract throughout the season. “You can call Jimmy.”"

So actually, he was just blowing off the questions. That is also acceptable given the fact that the Lions are currently in a playoff race.

Strong play up front is valued in the current NFL, and Suh is among the most dominant players in all of football. He will get paid as such, though he apparently does not care one lick who pays him that money…at least not right now.
