The Los Angeles Dodgers apparently rejected a trade which would have sent Matt Kemp to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for top pitching prospect Archie Bradley.

More from Arizona Diamondbacks

After a few days of rumors, Matt Kemp’s tenure as a Los Angeles Dodgers player came to an end as he was traded to the San Diego Padres on Thursday morning.

While the deal is still pending physicals, it appears the trade will go through barring an oddity, something the Arizona Diamondbacks are likely grinding their teeth over as they too were involved in discussions for the former All-Star.

The two sides exchanged proposals which included Los Angeles’ request of outfielder A.J. Pollock, though the D’Backs weren’t interested in such. What they were willing to do though was part with one of their top prospects, pitcher Archie Bradley.

Apparently that wasn’t an offer the Los Angeles Dodgers had interest in however as they scoffed and ended up trading Matt Kemp to the Padres for a collection of talent.

While Bradley does have a bit of pedigree considering his name and being a former top pick, he’s still a prospect and one that many scouts have questioned. Considering that, the Dodgers may have decided the deal with the Padres was a bit more to their favor.

We also don’t know what type of money the Arizona Diamondbacks were willing to front in a trade for Matt Kemp, so perhaps that’s part of the reason as to why no deal was completed with Archie Bradley involved.

Still, very odd to turn down a trade for an elite prospect so perhaps there is more that meets the eye with the inability to come to terms.
