Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel brushed off remarks about his height made by Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis in advance of their Week 15 matchup.
The Cleveland Browns are playing for their playoff lives, finally turning over the starting quarterback job to first-round pick Johnny Manziel. Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis was quick to quip when told about the QB change, referring to Manziel as a ‘midget‘. Lewis quickly apologized for the wisecrack, but Manziel is already over it, citing his preparation for the teams’ Week 15 match as his only priority.

“Coach Lewis called a couple people inside the organization, wanted to apologize,” Manziel said per NFL.com, “but for me, it didn’t really get to me, I was up here trying to get prepared for practices … It didn’t really get to me.”
So why wasn’t Manziel fired up over the slight? Simple. He can’t control that stuff.
“It’s absolutely funny, my height, I’m not gonna sprout five inches over the course of the week.”
Instead of worrying about little taunts, Manziel maintained his focus is on Week 15. “Coach Pettine let me know on Monday, Monday night (that he was starting) I guess and it was just an awesome feeling for me and it really made me hungry and motivated to go out and get prepared for this week.”
We’ll see what Manziel has in store if and when he scores his first touchdown against the Bengals. Full marks if Manziel does a Tyrion Lannister ‘Crossbow’ gesture in celebration.
