Not only have the Pittsburgh Pirates become one of the better teams in the National League in recent seasons, they’ve also looked good doing so in their traditional black and yellow color scheme.
It’ll be more of the same in 2015, though the team does plan to introduce another uniform scheme into their arsenal which will pay homage to some of the greatest years in franchise history.
While it’s not known what color pants they’ll wear with the new jersey, the assumption is that they’ll continue on with the uniform worn during the Willie Stargel era and use black threads.
Of course judging by the photo, it doesn’t look as if the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 2015 alternate jersey will be an identical replica to those worn in the 1970’s as the sleeves are cut different and may or may not include the iconic stripes. It’s also not known if the pants will include the famed yellow pinstripe down the leg, but regardless it’s a pretty impressive look and one that traditionalists have always favored.
The Pittsburgh Pirates don’t normally go over the top in regards to their look and they stay relatively true to their history which is probably part of the reason so many love their look. It’s clean, basic and historic and there’s usually no fluff involved in comparison to some of the younger franchises around Major League Baseball.
