Julio Jones is playing as well as any wide receiver in the NFL this year but the Atlanta Falcons may not have the record-breaking wideout for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Atlanta Falcons are tied for first place in the NFC South despite a 5-8 record but their chances to remain in the top spot at the end of Sunday could be in jeopardy depending on the availability of Julio Jones who has missed practice all week with a hip injury that forced him to leave Monday night’s loss against the Green Bay Packers.

Jones set a franchise record with 259 receiving yards before exiting with a hip injury that will need to be evaluated prior to kickoff against the Steelers and is a game-time decision according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

The last sentence of that should be encouraging for the Falcons and fantasy football owners who are hoping to have Jones available for their fantasy playoffs this weekend. Jones has already set new career-highs this year with 93 receptions and 1,428 yards this year through 13 games.

So if you own Jones check make sure you check the list of inactives to see if Julio will be activated after going through pregame workouts to test out that ailing, but improving hip. If he’s activated you can keep him in your starting lineups and hope he’ll be able to make it through without any setbacks.
