The Atlanta Falcons will be without Julio Jones in today’s NFL action against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones injured his hip during last week’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers, and it is bad enough that it will force him out of today’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Needless to say, that is a huge hit for the Falcons offense to take, and they are going to miss him in a big way.

Atlanta is currently trying to make a late season run to win the NFC South, and losing today and a New Orleans Saints win tomorrow would be bad news. There isn’t anyone on the Falcons’ roster that can produce and make plays like Jones can. It will be interesting to see what ends up happening today and who steps up in his absence.

From ESPN.com:

"Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will miss Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hip injury, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com."

He has been a huge part of the Falcons season all year, and has caught 93 passes for 1,428 yards and six touchdowns. It has been good to see him back on the field playing at a high level this year after the injury plagued season that he had last year.

The Falcons have a major challenge ahead of them today against a very solid Steelers football team. Jones would have been a matchup nightmare for the Steelers defense, and now the Atlanta offense will need Roddy White to step up in a huge way. There are plenty of things that Atlanta could do to make up for the injury, but it still won’t be as dynamic as having Jones on the field.
