Johnny Manziel is getting his first ever NFL start on Sunday afternoon, and the list of well wishers is leadoff by the most powerful man in America — LeBron James.
LeBron James is not someone who is going to keep his fandom to himself. Unlike the humble sports hero before him, LeBron wears his passion on his sleeves and that passion bleeds for both his favorite teams and his favorite players.

Count new Cleveland Browns starter Johnny Manziel among LeBron’s favorite players. The Cavaliers star has been pulling for Manziel ever since he first won the Heisman in 2012, and their paths have collided in Cleveland with this Sunday seeing everything come to a head. LeBron and the Cavs play in Charlotte tomorrow but he’s staying an extra night in Cleveland to watch Manziel play his first game in person.
LeBron wished Manziel luck before Sunday’s game, sending out his support on his Instagram account with a message of well wishes.
Best of luck to my lil brother @jmanziel2 on making his 1st start today. Let’s Go!!
Manziel has always had a big supporter in LeBron James and this dates back to his days at Texas A&M. While Johnny Football was still making his name at College Station, LeBron was one of the first celebrities on that train and hasn’t left since.
Back then, LeBron was in Miami with the Heat and Manziel was fresh off a Heisman win. Two years later, both men are in Cleveland playing for the two most popular sports teams in town and it’s looking like we’re about to experience the dawn of a new era in Cleveland sorts.
