There’s not a rap fan who hasn’t heard Notorious B.I.G.’s “I Got A Story To Tell” song which famously suggests the overweight rapper once had an evening of ill repute with the girlfriend of a New York Knicks player.

When the song was released in 1996, many questioned how legit the rhymes were or if Biggie Smalls was simply delving into his over the top imagination which crafted him into one of the greatest MC’s to ever grace the mic.

Fans have looked up and down the New York Knicks’ 1996 roster and combed through it to find a ‘6’5′ player who Biggie Smalls so often refers to, but questions have remained as to the target of the rhyme.

Was it John Starks? While not 6’5, rumors routinely suggested it was the point guard who was the player behind the iconic song though the former New York Knicks point guard says the verse was not about him. He wouldn’t deny the validity of the song though as he stated on ESPN’s Highly Questionable.

Once Starks admits he knows of the story and says it’s true, you can see the former guard begin to backtrack as the pressure to name the player involved mounts from hosts Bomani Jones and Dan Le Batard. Not one to snitch though, John Starks keeps his cool and doesn’t give up a name before all but changing the topic.

It seems as if the Notorious B.I.G. wanted to leave a little something to the imagination and perhaps just decided on ‘6’5′ as a way to keep the player a mystery and the masses guessing.
