Although there have been reports suggesting the Oakland Raiders plan to fire everybody at season end, including head coach Tony Sparano, running back Latavius Murray hopes the coach will be back.

Sparano, who previously headed up the Miami Dolphins, was hired on an interim basis earlier this season but has the Oakland Raiders playing inspired football in recent weeks. Might that be enough to save his job and fight off continued rumors suggesting John Harbaugh could become Oakland’s next coach?

That’s the hope of Murray who says the Oakland Raiders roster loves playing for Sparano.

“I think Tony has done a great job, and I think everyone in the locker room loves his approach,” Murray said. “I feel he’s definitely a players’ coach, and we all love playing for him.”

Murray was asked if the support for Tony Sparano was “unanimous” and while the running back wouldn’t go that far, he did suggest those close to him all feel the same way in regards to their coach.

Of course, it’s questionable if the Raiders will listen to their players, especially if Jim Harbaugh leaves the San Francisco 49ers. That said, it’s possible Tony Sparano could have worked his way into a job if the Oakland Raiders don’t see what them deem to be an improvement on the open market.

Like him or not, there’s no denying the Oakland Raiders are playing better football under the leadership of Tony Sparano. That might not be enough reason to bring him back moving forward, but it seems most players enjoying playing for him and that’s half the battle in regards to finding a head coach in the NFL.
