An abandoned mall in Branson, Missouri is being converted into a baseball complex.

When thinking of baseball in the state of Missouri, one usually imagines two cities; Kansas City, and St. Louis. The two even met in the 1985 World Series, with the Royals besting the Cardinals in 7 games. But it appears that you can add a third city to the mix now.

Even if it is not for traditional MLB affiliated reason, Branson, MO is unofficially the third baseball town in the state. With plans to replace an abandoned red roof mall with a baseball complex, the city is looking to revitalize a once dead area. What is so special about this project you might ask? Each of the stadiums in this complex is planned to be modeled after several iconic ballparks around the nation.

Ballparks of America is set to open in the Summer of 2015, and will have several fields that can play host to youth baseball leagues and tournaments. It will feature several amenities for fans and teams alike, including player lodging, and a baseball village complete with shopping and concession stands for the whole family.

In the artist renduring, pictured above, we can get a preview of some of the iconic fields this complex will play host to in the future. The ones to highlight are a few stadiums that have long since been gone from the public, such as Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Tiger Stadium in Detroit, and Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C. The project will cost around $24 million according to reports.
