Johnny Manziel’s teammates did not ignore him prior to his first NFL start Sunday, so says the Cleveland Browns quarterback.
Manzel shot down a report from Fox Sports’ Pam Oliver from Sunday that suggested some Browns players snubbed Manziel and “kept their hands to themselves” during introductions before the team’s contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Cleveland.com
"“That just seems ridiculous,” Manziel during his weekly press conference Wednesday.Manziel said his teammates have supported him fully, before, during and after the loss.“Sure, guys have obviously come up to me and kept me up because it’s hard,” Manziel said. “Obviously like I said, it’s the first shutout for me in my career and it leaves a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, but the biggest thing that’s helped me is being in this building and these guys obviously aren’t letting one game get to us and get too down."
Cleveland.com uncovered video from Manziel’s pre-game run through, which also appears to refute Oliver’s report.
Still, this is going to be life for Johnny Football as long as he remains an NFL quarterback.
He’s one of the most polarizing figures in all of sports, which means questionable rumors and reports are bound to pop up from time to time.
But as long as his teammates truly do have his back, he should be able to get through this latest bump in the road just fine.
